Guide

For the clinical team

Set up from the ultrasound report

Start with normal anatomy. Use the ultrasound report to show which ovary has a cyst, how big it is and what the report calls it, then show the treatment your team has discussed. Initial settings are examples: replace them with the report details.

Ovarian cyst

Ovarian cyst on the model

Changing a setting below also adds the cyst.

Ovary

The patient’s right or left.

Size of the cyst mm

Use the largest size, as written in the report. With both ovaries, enter the larger cyst.

What the scan report saysChoose the words the report uses. For any other description, such as a complex cyst, choose “Other, or not stated”. The model does not classify the cyst.

Side, size and the report’s description come from the report. The shapes of the ovaries and the cyst, and the contents drawn inside a dermoid cyst, are schematic.

Views and layers

Use Whole body, Pelvis and Ovary close-up to move closer in the same scene. Show / hide controls the body outline, bowel, bladder, rectum and pelvic floor, sacrum, measurements and labels.

Key measurements

Cyst values come from the report. The ovaries’ shape and size are an average adult’s; the cyst’s shape is simplified.

Treatment options

Show the treatment your team has discussed

Choose a picture of the planned treatment. The model does not select a treatment.

Show

Pain relief, hormone treatment and open surgery are not shown. Your team can explain them.

Make a picture sheet to send

Set up each view you want, then press Snapshot above the model. You can add up to 4. If you add none, the current view is used.

This is a simplified teaching model of a cyst on one or both ovaries. It does not interpret ultrasound scans, diagnose, classify a cyst or judge which treatment is right. The shapes of the ovary and the cyst, and anything drawn inside it, are schematic. Important information · Nothing is saved.
